Hydrotreating
catalysts are active once
in a sulfided form while either fresh or regenerated catalysts are delivered
to the end users under the oxidic form. Initially the sulfiding step was
performed once the catalysts had been loaded into the reactor and various
sulfiding agents were used : feedstock, H2S, spiking agents such as DMDS.
In the 80's EURECAT introduced the first off-site technology, SULFICAT,
and later developed a full sulfiding process, TOTSUCAT.
