Catalyst-Analysis
Analyses on
the unregenerated catalyst :
 |
Carbon (C,
wt %, method Lab001/002). |
 |
Sulfur (S,
wt %, method Lab001/002). |
 |
Free hydrocarbon level
(HC, wt %, method Lab008) is measured
to decide whether catalyst stripping is necessary before regeneration.
It corresponds to the quantity of material extracted with boiling
toluene. |
 |
Loss On Ignition
(LOI, wt %, method Lab006) is given
by the loss of weight after 4 hours at XXX °C in a muffle furnace
(Temperature may vary with catalyst type). |
 |
Length (l,
mm, method Lab010) : It represents the average length of approximately
100 catalyst particles. |
Analyses on lab regenerated catalyst :
 |
Carbon : checks
the efficiency of coke removal. |
 |
Sulfur : provides
sulfur specification ex sulfides. |
 |
Surface area (SA,
m2/g, methods Lab004/005), used for fixing SA specification on final
product. |
 |
Bulk Crushing Strength
(BCS, MPa, method Lab011) used for
fixing BCS specification. |
Analyses on industrially regenerated catalyst
:
 |
C, S, BCS, SA, check
that industrially regenerated catalyst is within specifications. |
 |
Length : checks
that catalyst pellets have not been seriously shortened. |
 |
Various
densities, as well as Void Fraction, are also measured for providing
valuable information for reactor loading. |
